Stainless Bronzed-Steel Eel Skull Pendant
The New Zealand long-fin freshwater eel, only found within New Zealand, are on the gradual decline. They can grow quite large, with females up to 1.5 meters, and continue growing as they age. Some that reach such large sizes are estimated to be over 50 years old, at which point they migrate down-river at the end of their life to breed in one place in the sea by Tonga, where they will then pass away immediately after. The record age for a New Zealand freshwater eel has been 106 years old.
This piece is cast in stainless steel with a bronzed finish and comes with a chain necklace.
